The Biodiversity Galiano Project is dedicated to raising awareness of Galiano Island's flora and fauna. Here is a place to share your observations and stories, and connect with other naturalists on the island.

We are creating secure, long-term, market-price rental housing on Galiano, managed and maintained by the islanders living in it.

Our approach involves incrementally building or leasing housing as opportunities and funding arise, taking advantage of existing zoning and in particular making use of unused cottage rights.

If you’d like to join the waitlist for housing: apply to be a co-op member.

If you own land or housing on Galiano you might be willing to lease to us, get in touch.

GALIANO CONSERVANCY

Our Mission:
To protect, steward and restore Galiano Island ecosystems by creating a network of natural areas where a healthy environment, learning and a love of nature flourish.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Each week the GC staff lead volunteer events at the Millard Learning Centre (MLC). There is lots to do and learn, and all are welcome.
Sustainable Food Systems
Thursdays 10 am to 2 pm
Meet at the MLC Food Forest to assist with harvesting, weeding, watering, hot composting, bed prep, nursery propagation, and general plant care. Drop in for an hour or the full event.

THE GALIANO TRAILS SOCIETY is a registered charity dedicated to the development and enjoyment of hiking trails on Galiano Island in British Columbia, Canada.

SEED LIBRARY OF GALIANO

The Seed Library of Galiano (SLOG) preserves organically grown, non-GMO, open-pollinated, locally successful and genetically diverse seed varieties for the Galiano community. With approximately 95% of genetic diversity already lost in the world, seed libraries and seed banks are vitally important for preserving genetic diversity and keeping it in the public domain. SLOG further contributes to island food security by providing residents with accessibility to a lifetime of viable, locally-grown seeds.
