August 2025
I’m excited to be sponsoring this year’s Bark in the Park, happening on Sunday, August 10th in support of the Galiano Health Care Society. It’s one of those special island events that brings the community together, celebrates our furry companions, and raises awareness for something incredibly important—mental health.
The Galiano Health Care Society plays a vital role in supporting our well-being, and like many small communities, we’ve felt the sting of funding cuts—especially when it comes to mental health services. Events like Bark in the Park remind us that we’re stronger together and that even small acts of support can ripple out in meaningful ways.
This year has been especially meaningful in our home as my husband, Trevor and I welcomed two new rescue dogs, Maggie and Gabana, into our lives. They’ve brought with them laughter, chaos, and that kind of sweet connection only dogs can offer. We still miss our beloved Roxy, who gave us years of love and loyalty, and this was a way to honour her memory too.
As many of us know firsthand, dogs are more than companions. They provide comfort, structure, joy, and unconditional love. Whether it’s the motivation to get outside for a walk or the quiet comfort of a pup resting nearby, dogs can play a vital role in supporting mental health and emotional resilience. I know mine do.
I hope to see you there on Sunday! Whether you're coming with a pup or just in support of the cause, it’s going to be a tail-wagging good time for a great cause.
